MS Process Systems Engineering
MS Process Systems Engineering
Fall 2023
The School of Chemical and Materials Engineering (SCME) National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST)
Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Chemical and Materials Engineering (SCME), National University of Sciences and Technology is ranked Number 1 in Pakistan in 2020, 2021, and 2022 by QS ranking. The department is offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Chemical Engineering and Energetic Materials Engineering since its inception in 2006.
To complement the requirement of engineers with a background in Computer-Aided Process Design and Operations, the Department has been offering a Postgraduate program “MS Process Systems Engineering (PSE)” since Fall 2018. The program is approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and is the first MS degree program in PSE being offered by any university in Pakistan.
PSE is a largely mature and well-established discipline of chemical engineering. PSE has evolved into a specialized field at the interface of chemical engineering, applied mathematics, and computer science. It deals with the inherent complexity of chemical processes and the multi-objective nature of decision-making during the lifecycle of the manufacturing processes.
PSE is an active area of teaching and research in US, UK, European countries, Japan, Korea, China, and Malaysia. Since 1992 Europe hosts the annual meeting European Symposium of Computer Aided Process Engineering (ESCAPE). Another series of conferences sponsored by the American Institute of Chemical Engineer and other partners about PSE is held every three years rotating between Asia, Europe, North and South America.
