Meeting for the Collaboration initiatiation with Soochow University

On 19th May evening, SCME held an online meeting with Soochow University for the establishment of a collaboration in the fields of nanotechnology and materials engineering between the two universities.

 Participants from NUST side were: Prof. Amir Azam Khan (Principal SCME), Dr. Khurram Yaqoob (HoD Materials Engineering), Dr. Erum Pervaiz (HoD Chemical Engineering), and Ms Xiang Yang (Director of the China Research Center). While the Soochow Team included Prof. Liu Zhuang (Dean of the School of Nanoscience and Technology), Prof. He Le (Vice Dean), Ms. Xiaoyu Jin, (Secretary-International Collaboration, CNST) Dr. Haibo Huang, International Program Coordinator, International Office Ms. Yanjun Song (Secretary-General Office, International Office). The meeting was chaired by Wang Shuwa.

 

Initially, Prof. Amir Azam Khan introduced the organizational structure, academic programs, faculty team, international collaborations, laboratory equipment and scientific research achievements of SCME, NUST. He said that in the future, he hoped to strengthen key cooperation with Soochow University in the collaborative manner to establish an advanced materials. He also insisted to promote the further industrialization and commercialization of nanotechnology to achieve high-quality development of products to further the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor relations.

 

Later, Prof. Liu Zhuang introduced the faculty team, talent training, scientific research achievements and international cooperation of the School of Nanoscience and Technology of Soochow University. In recent years, the college has mainly focused on the four major research fields of optoelectronics, new energy, biomedicine, and environment. Many teachers of the college have worked in internationally renowned academic journals and published a series of high-quality papers, and the international academic influence has continued to rise

Afterwards, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation in areas such as mutual visits between teachers and students, scientific research cooperation, talent training and laboratory co-construction. Prof. He Le suggested that the two sides should arrange a scientific research workshops to familiarize both teams with each other. Prof. Wang Shuwa said that the two universities should add new momentum for scientific research cooperation to the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, and contribute to the friendly exchanges between China and Pakistan.
